Moongirls is arguably currently the longest-running IP in graphic novel or comic series on the continent of Africa. Previously, this position was held by the popular South African comic 'Caption South Africa,' which reached 10 issues by 2018. Moongirls currently has 18 issues, spanning from December 2019 to 2023. Through the arts, the Moongirls series addresses important issues on the continent of Africa such as rape culture, religious fascism, corruption, environmental destruction, and the importance of African storytelling.
