Mothertongue is a collaborative and project-based film studio that conducts experiments with a mission to explore the contemporary relevance of African-indigenous knowledge systems and histories, with an interest in making them radically accessible to a mass audience. Mothertongue aims to use cutting-edge, innovative storytelling to educate the general public about African histories and to make our ancient wisdom legible to a new generation. After producing and distributing her own successful short films, founder Nuotama Bodomo returned home to Ghana to found Mothertongue Studio in 2020. The studio is in post-production on In Search of Yennenga, a docu-hybrid Ghallywood film that confronts the forgotten history of Northern Ghana's warrior princess.
